The Surf Captain iOS and Android apps have been updated for iPads and Android tablets. The app is now optimized for larger screens, and it also works in landscape mode on phones and tablets, a great way to get a bigger view of the surf timeline.

What’s new in 1.4.17

iPad and Android tablet support. The 16-day forecast, current conditions, nearby list and map, daily summary, buoy data, surf alerts, charts, and favorites all have layouts designed for the larger screen.

Landscape mode. Rotate your device and the app rotates with you. Forecast detail, buoy and location pickers, day-by-day views, and account and subscription screens all have landscape layouts, and sign-in uses two columns on wide screens.

Respects notches and rounded corners. Content stays clear of camera cutouts and corners while backgrounds still run edge to edge.

Why we did it

We wanted the Surf Captain app to work well on every screen, not just phones. Turn your device sideways and the surf timeline stretches out so you can read the days at a glance.
