The 2020 Atlantic Hurricane Season is a record breaking season, and is the most active hurricane season on record. As of November 17th, we have seen 30 named storms, 13 hurricanes, and 6 major hurricanes. The 2020 season has broken the record of named storms set in 2005 with 27 named storms, and the only other Hurricane season to flip over to the Greek Alphabet naming system. It has also broken the record for landfalling storms with 12, 6 of which were at hurricane status.
The hurricane season, which officially ends November 30th, is still active and currently Hurricane Iota which made landfall yesterday in Nicaragua as a category 5 hurricane is moving inland through Nicaragua.
